ANONIM stands for situative and interdisciplinary work, for processuality, communication, and synergy. The artistic process is seen as a work in progress, that re-defines itself depending on thematics and actuality. The dispute with specific locations and situations, the collective development of artistic strategies for certain states and questions form the core of the methodology and are seen as more important than the (formal) end product. The art forms developed in line with the delimitation of the arts since modernity – installation, Aktionskunst, urban intervention, the Kooperative Kunstpraxis, or performance art – count to ANONIMs tools, as do the material emancipation of the negligible, the underrated and the unperceived. ANONIM strategy is not gridlocked, but is continuously open to all artistic options and methods. The “poor” aesthetics of sculptural installations meets pop-arty imagery, directives pace the artistic execution on to third parties and ANONIM traces in hotel rooms mutely reference the artist’s presence. Founded in 2009 as an open and variable group by the artists Miriam Jesacher und Daniel Ramirez, ANONIM has evolved and now concentrates on the head of the group. The early situationspecific and collectively generated works, that to a part assumed environmental proportions are now followed by more conceptual and reduced works. The rawness and brutality of the early environments gave way to an almost poetic character. Stock pieces of their biography and literary references or word games expand the works with an immaterial layer. In a stringent way the “sculptural performative cartographers” (M. Jesacher and D. Ramirez) concentrate their independent approaches to a new entityenlistingthemselves not only in exhibition spaces, but also into the public realm – with not necessarily approved works and action. t Maria Huber translation: Geoffrey Wirth
